"Quirky" messages are now UX cliche

The message is a bit quirky and personal. This was rare 5 years ago, but now it’s rare to see a web service that doesn’t have quirky and personal messages. It’s still a good thing, but it’s also wearing on me a bit.
(This message is from Microsoft Hohm, which I understand shows usable power-saving functionality today. A WSJ article suggested the biggest savings come from the existence of such software, not the use of it. What about the existence of quirky power saving software error messages?)
